After an absence of more than 6 years from the music scene Issa Ghan- dour is back with “Darwish”: A CD with 10 of the most memorable songs of Sayyed Darwish. This moving compilation CD is the fruit of the combined efforts of Issa and the Madina Band.
Despite the fact that all ten pieces on this CD have resurfaced after Sayyed Darwish’s death in many musical forms and with many vocalists, we insisted on return- ing to the original recordings and lyrics of each piece in order to be faithful to the spirit of the compositions. This CD keeps true to the original pieces while expressing at the same time the many facets of our contem- porary lives. The music and lyrics of Sayyed Darwish are as valid today as they were a century ago!
